How we work

Liberty Bridge draws on decades of experience building and operating pipelines in the region. We’re using that experience to develop a safe and practical project that makes use of established energy corridors and builds on years of development work already completed. We’re working directly with landowners and communities along the route to understand local priorities, reduce impacts and answer questions as the project progresses.

Safety

Liberty Bridge will use advanced engineering, modern technology and proven construction and operating practices to support safe and reliable operations.

Pipelines are the safest, most efficient way to transport large volumes of oil over long distances and must meet stringent safety and environmental standards. Preventing incidents is the priority, with regular inspections, 24/7 monitoring and integrity management programs in place to identify and address potential issues. Emergency preparedness will begin long before the pipeline starts operating, with detailed emergency response plans and coordination with local first responders on emergency planning, training and exercises.

Environment

Nearly 90 percent of the proposed route follows existing crude oil pipeline corridors, reducing the need for new disturbance.

Transporting oil by pipeline produces significantly fewer greenhouse gas emissions than other transportation methods. As Liberty Bridge is developed, the project team is conducting environmental and cultural resource studies, field surveys and technical assessments to understand existing conditions and identify potential impacts. This work will inform project design and measures to avoid, minimize or mitigate impacts to water, land, wildlife and other natural resources.

Landowners

Our project team will work directly with landowners throughout project development, including negotiation, construction, reclamation and restoration.

Landowners will have direct points of contact with our project team as planning and development progress. We’ll work directly with landowners along the route to discuss property-specific considerations, easements and compensation, and answer questions throughout the process.

Communities

Liberty Bridge will create long-term value for communities along the route through local economic benefits and lasting relationships.

Construction will generate local spending and create opportunities for workers, contractors and businesses. The project's benefits will continue after construction through ongoing property tax revenue that supports local services and infrastructure such as schools, parks and roads.
